2007 Lotus Exige

The 2007 Exige is a 2-door, 2-passenger convertible sports car, available in one trim only, the S. Upon introduction, the Exige is equipped with a standard 1.8-liter, I4, 220-horsepower, supercharged engine that achieves 23-mpg in the city and 29-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2007 Exige is a carryover from 2006.

Cons: Spartan interior, difficult entry and exit, poor outward visibility, peaky power delivery, ride quality more Formula One than grand touring, limited dealer network.”

ForbesAutos reviewed the 2007 Lotus Exige and gave out”The ride wasn’t punishing, a compliment to the four-wheel independent suspension. If it matters to you, the Exige S can deliver dazzling performance along with an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy average of 25 mpg.”

motortrend reviewed the 2007 Lotus Exige and gave out”Good stuff: The revised Lotus engine-management software gives the S a smoother, more linear power curve, eliminating a nasty burp around 5200 rpm that plagued the normally aspirated engine. A short and crisp shift pattern presents easy access to the six speeds of the manual gearbox, which has overdriven fifth and sixth gears for excellent fuel economy. And though the cockpit is small and climbing in and out is a test of a supple spine, it’s also surprisingly comfortable once you’ve crawled inside, and the anatomically padded sports seats are excellent at keeping the g-loaded driver and passenger snugly in place. Not-as-good stuff: Brakes. Amazing on the street, a bit overwhelmed at the track. And that’s it. Well, maybe more power-and a bit less weight. We hear Lotus is working on it.”
