The 2008 Equinox is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, available in 10 trims, ranging from the LS 2WD to the Sport AWD. Upon introduction, the LS 2WD is equipped with a standard 3.4-liter, V6, 185-horsepower engine. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard.

The Sport AWD is equipped with a standard 3.6-liter, V6, 264-horsepower engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2008 Equinox is a carryover from 2007.
