  • Thecarconnection—STYLING:The 2009 Suzuki SX4 looks pretty good as a hatchback but a bit awkward in sedan form;PERFORMANCE:The 2009 Suzuki SX4 does offer a surprisingly engaging ride, but fuel economy is worse than expected;QUALITY:The tall 2009 Suzuki SX4 offers plenty of space for those up front, but rear-seat space and some of the interior materials leave plenty of room for improvement;SAFETY:Some economy cars skimp on safety features but not the 2009 SX4;FEATURES:The 2009 Suzuki SX4 offers a tremendous value, but a few key features are still conspicuously absent.
  • Newcartestdrive—The Suzuki SX4 is a good choice among small cars for anyone looking for something other than just the cheapest, most basic transportation. All models are bargain priced and they deliver a lot of content. The SX4 Crossover is a versatile hatchback body style. The all-wheel-drive model is perhaps the best buy because it’s one of the least-expensive vehicles available offering this level of all-weather capability. The SX4 Sport offers a taste of sportiness in a sub-$15,000 package. As an added bonus, there’s Suzuki’s 100,000-mile, seven-year, fully transferable, zero-deductible powertrain limited warranty.

Overall, the 2009 Suzuki SX4 Sport is a great little car. I found that I sat higher up in it than my husband in his Honda right next to me. He thought I looked cramped because of the compact appearance, but I found it to be quite a bit roomier inside, as well as easy to get in & out. A sweet ride with no noticeable outside noise in town, and very little on the freeway, it made a long trip pass quickly and comfortably

Last year my wife and I set out to replace our 1998 Jeep Cherokee due to increasing gas prices. We shopped around and found a 2008 Suzuki SX4 Crossover 4WD Touring with an Automatic transmission and she fell in love so we bought it. That car has been flawless, so on March 2, 2009 I traded in my 2007 Honda Civic EX Coupe for a 2009 SX4 Sport Sedan with the Technology / Navi package and a 5 speed manual.
At first I was concerned that I would be sacrificing fuel economy, but to date I have averaged 35+ mpg. I live in western Massachusetts and I commute 80 miles round trip 5 days per week on 2 lane roads in hilly conditions, but I still get much better than the advertised mpg.
This car handles and rides better than the crossover and I would recommend the 5 speed over the automatic any day. The manual transmission turns this from a good vehicle into a really fun ride. This car does lack the 4WD of the crossover, but I was able to get through 2 snow storms without any problems, although I do plan on getting a set of snow tires for next winter. The crossover handles very well, but the Sport handles great. It’s not a true sports car but it does inspire you to drive it hard if you wish. There is some body lean and there is some understeer at the limit but this is very predictable. This car will hold its own in a corner with just about any car out there within reason.
The motor is smooth, has good low end power (much better than my Civic), makes good sounds when pushed, pulls well right to the red line and it will go quite well if you feel the urge. In order to get the most out of this power plant I can’t recommend strongly enough the 5 speed manual. The clutch is light with good take up and has a very good feel. The shift linkage is very good with slightly long throws. Both the clutch and linkage are better overall than my Civic.
The interior of the Sport in identical to the crossover which means that it is very well layed out with excellent visibility. The materials used and the fit and finish are the equal to my Civic. The sound system is very good for a 4 speaker system (our crossover has the 9 speaker system which is a much better choice). The navigation system is a removable Garmin Nuvi 760 with bluetooth (my LG Flare works fine with it). In my opinion Garmin makes the best systems available today. I really enjoy the high seating position and the ease of getting in and out of both the crossover and the Sport are great compared to my Civic. The only complaint that I have about the car is the front seat arm rests are, well for lack of a better word they are weird. They are attached to the seats and they just don’t fall into a good position for me.
Overall I don’t think that there is a better car out there right now for under $20,000 and both the crossover and the Sport offer more standard features than some $25,000 offerings

for me the Sedan LE Popular is Nice car. Absolute value for money. Important features like ABS and dual airbags for such an economical price. It has been a pleasure to drive the car for over an year now. Mileage is not bad at all. Over all it is a car worth using.
