Awards for Audi in February 2013

The Audi A3 has been voted into the top ten automobiles for this award by the jury of 66 journalists from 25 countries. The voting is based on the experience of the jurors, who test each individual model comprehensively. The overall winners will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on March 28th. Auto Bild Best Brands in All Classes – Ten top spots for Audi
Some 100,000 readers of Auto Bild, a German car magazine, voted in this year’s Best Brand in All Classes contest. Ten Audi models came top in ten classes. The following Audi models were recognized for superior quality: the A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, TT, Q3, Q5 and Audi Q7. Readers voted on models in 13 vehicle classes. The criteria were quality, price and design. (March 1, 2013)
MIT Technology Review: Audi one of the world’s 50 most innovative companies
The editors of MIT Technology Review scour the world every year for companies offering pioneering technologies. The MIT panel of judges included Audi in its List of 50 Disruptive Companies on account of the company’s piloted-driving solutions. A company is only included in the list if the editors feel its innovations can result in long-lasting improvements to people’s lives worldwide. The list includes major global corporations such as Apple, Samsung and General Electric. (February 19, 2013)
Audi A4 once again Best of All Classes in DEKRA Used-Car Report
Boasting the lowest defect rate of all candidates, the Audi A4 took first place in this year’s DEKRA Used-Car Report. For five consecutive years, an Audi has been picked as the overall number one vehicle. Moreover, the A1, A5, TT and Q5 finished first in their respective categories. DEKRA experts present the Best of All Classes award ever year to the vehicle with the lowest defect rate in three different mileage categories. DEKRA has declared an Audi the most reliable vehicle every year since it began issuing its Used-Car Report in 2008. This is the second Best of All Classes award for the Audi A4; the Audi A6 earned this accolade in 2008, 2009 and 2010. (February 21, 2013)
Audi A6: First place in Consumer Reports
Consumer Reports magazine chose the Audi A6 as best in the Luxury Sedans, Midsized category. The editorial staff evaluate driving characteristics, quality of interior, fuel efficiency and reliability. The data collected reflect subscribers’ experiences with some 1.2 million vehicles. Consumer Reports is published by Consumers Union, which was founded in 1936 and is the world’s largest organization for independent product testing. (February 28, 2013)
Audi A3 wins two design honors
The Audi A3 boasts a remarkable design. At its German Design Awards ceremony on February 15, the German Design Council declared the A3 as the victor in the Transportation and Public Space category. Just one week later, Achim Badstübner accepted the iF Gold Award for Product Design in the Transportation Design category during Munich Creative Business Week. Not only the exterior but especially the interior of the A3 won over the judges. “All of the details are very precisely executed, and the quality of the materials is unsurpassed. The interior of the Audi A3 is currently the best on offer in the automobile industry,” the judges stated in their assessment. (February 22, 2013)
Audi wins 2013 Auto Trophy Classic
The 1983 Audi Rallye quattro A2 was voted number one in the Motorsport category in the 2013 Auto Trophy Classic contest. This car – which Hannu Mikkola drove to victory in the first Rally World Championship for all-wheel-drive vehicles – captured 33.2 percent of votes to finish ahead of the Renault Alpine A110 (13.9 percent) and the Porsche 956 (13.8 percent). Readers voted in five categories of ten vehicles each. 2013 marks the first time that Auto Zeitung Classic Cars magazine has held the Auto Trophy Classic contest. Results were based on voting by more than 23,500 readers. (March 8, 2013)
Design Trophy awards for Audi A3 and A1 Sportback
Two different Audi models were best in class in the 2013 Design Trophy contest. More than 24,000 readers of Auto Zeitung magazine took part. Of them, nearly 31 percent voted for the Audi A1 Sportback in the City Car category. With 18.5 percent of the vote, the Audi A3 took second place among compact-class entrants. Readers voted on all vehicles launched in 2012, assigned to one of five categories. (February 27, 2013)
Audi S8 chosen as 2013 Car of the Year in Ukraine
The Audi S8 triumphed in Ukraine, earning the title of 2013 Car of the Year in the luxury class. A panel of judges, consisting of automobile experts and private individuals, voted online for their favorites in eleven categories. One of Ukraine’s most prestigious honors, this award has been presented every year since 2003. (February 20, 2013)
