car dealership refuse to give title after signed papers

Can car dealership refuse to give you title after you signed papers?—Jerry
right now I bought a car with a used car dealership and they have me temporary license plates for 20 days, they have taken more than 20 days to issue my titles to me and im getting upset. Can they do this legally in the state of new jersey if i live in new york?

If you paid for the car in full they owe you a clear title…if you borrowed to pay for the car then the lender gets the title until you clear the debt.If you bought in one state your residence state may have taxes that you own and that could be holding up the process too.These things just do not drop out of the sky..you might need to be a bit more pro-active and get this settled
