Car Has Bad 02 Sensor

Car Has Bad 02 Sensor?—By thehimeanator
I have a 2004 Dodge Neon SXT with a cold air intake, that has been throwing some engine problem codes. The car is showing all of the signs of a bad 02 sensor but I dont think that is the main problem. The first code that it gave said that the car was running too rich, and it smelled like it too and couple days later its said that it had a bad 02 sensor. could an 02 sensor go bad becuase of a car running rich? and could the car be running rich becuase of the cold air intake? the cold air intake has the stock air flow sensor hooked up to it and not a Mass Air Flow Sensor. could the stock air flow sensor be unable to calculate all the air?02 Sensor on the Exhuast in the back of the engine. Thanks for any help!

Recheck the cold intake installation and make absolutely sure that there are no unmetered air leaks between the MAF and the throttle body. All (100%) of the air entering the engine must pass through the MAF.
Check the fuel pressure (this concern may be unrelated to the cold air intake).
If it “smelled” like it was running rich, it probably was.
It seems that the O2 sensor triggered the correct code(s) which indicates that it is working correctly.
If no other problems are found, re-install the stock intake and see if the problem persists.
