How to change the colors on the Pioneer Premium audio system?—By Naughty Angel

How can I change the colors on the Pioneer Premium audio system on my 2008 Scion TC?It says on the Scion website that the display allows you to change the color, but mine is black and white for now and I can’t figure it out. Just bought the car. What do I do?

the colors on the background do not change, but the LED illumination where your buttons are normally orange can change to blue. while the stereo is off hold down the menu button until a menu comes up. i believe its the first item in there to change the color….also while you are on this screen you can add a personalized greeting for when you start your car up and your radio turns on. check out the manual that came with the radio, theres lots of info in there

Scion Pioneer PREMIUM audio system?I have a new 09 scion and i got the premium audio System along with it (i know it doesn't change the sound). My original thought was that it had the sub hookups, but after speaking to an installation company (who made me very mad), they are saying that i need to pay for a piece that will hook up the subs to the premium system, and that i WILL NOT be able to control the subs through the system. in the menu section, there is a “SUBWOOFER” section though? does anybody have the Scion Pioneer Premium System in their scion and have subs hooked up to it? does it work? I would hate to think i spent an additional $400 so that i can add my subs to the stock radio for nothing

IT IS NOT STOCK AS IT IS A PIONEER WITH 240 WATTS AND HAS HOOKUP FOR SCION SUBWOOFER WHICH IS AN OPTION ALONG WITH 240 WATT AMP.

On A Scion XB, It Better To Get The Premium Pioneer System Or Your Own Audio System? If you get the Pioneer Premium System does that come with louder speakers and a Sub-woofer? Or is it better to get my own in-dash cd player with louder speakers and sub-woofers?

Its unlikley it comes wit ha subwoofer and if it does no bigger than an 6-8″ sub… a custom soundsystem is ALWAYS better than a stock soundsystem… even if it is premium sound

When you ask if it is “better” do you have an understanding of how much an aftermarket system will cost compared to the “premium” sound of the manufacturer? an up charge from Scion is around 1200.00 if you want a decent head unit that does cd/dvd/nav that alone will cost 14-1800.00 door speaker upgrades will run around $600 plus and if you want an amp/s and a sub you can expect to pay another 1200.00 for nothing more than a prefabricated “boom” box. a “system” is exactly what it sounds like; a complete system of components that work well together to produce high end sound. any time you ask for custom work to be done you can expect to pay $$$$ for it. conversely the premium sound from Scion is made up from Pioneer parts and sounds pretty darn good for the money. At my shop we build show cars for the manufacturers and private clients, $$ add up quick when you are wanting custom.

im not sure with the xb but with the tc. you can take the indash cd player out and theres 3 plug ins like you would hook a ps2 or any modern game system up too im not sure what they're called but im sure you can find them at a local electronic store. and what you do is plug them in and then hook up the rest of your system like you would with any other car.hope that helps

hi, Here I want to know what is the difference between normal pioneer and pioneer premeir car audio systems? i am either going to get the pioneer DEH-P8400MP or the pioneer premeir DEH-P840MP … the two system looks exactly the same and same spec except one is label pioneer and the other is label premeir and the remote is different. is the premeir quaility better or is just marketing? there is a $100cdn price different.

Most of the time, the difference between a product line’s “normal” products and its “better” line is legit. Yes, a lot of the additional costs are incurred by the additional marketing and additional waranty benefits, but most of the time there is a legit reason why one is better than the other.

Case in point – Kenwood and its Excelon series. It is my understanding that none of the standard Kenwood headunits have their SystemQ crossover functionality, but all the Excelons do. But there are some regular Kenwood units that cost as much if not more than the Excelons, so what’s the deal? SystemQ’s provides functionality that an audiophile would want/demand from their headunit, that the mainstream listener wouldn’t. That doesn’t mean the mainstream user doesn’t want flashy features like dot matrix screens or MP3 capability.

Excelon head units also utilize copper components in their circuit boards that allow for the sound signals to be cleaner. They probably use less than optimum materials in their mainstream version.

Summary: most of the time, the differences between a highend version and a low-end version is worth the additional money as the high-end usually has features that are geared towards a more enthusiast type user.

Of course this doesn’t apply to cars – I wouldn’t buy a Lexus because in the end, it’s still just a Toyota…

    Just kidding…
