Does Truck Tires last longer than Car Tires?—By JasonE
I bought brand new a 2007 honda front wheel drive car with 17″ rims. I don’t burn out or anything like that. I have this vehicle for everyday use (80% highway driving). my car has less than 50,000 miles on it and i’m already on my 3rd set of tires. that’s just a little bit over 2yrs… i make sure at every oil change that the tire pressure is good and good alignment so. i was wondering if i got a truck would thous tires last lot longer than my car.
the tires are goodyears all season tires.. but they are low pro tires…and they were out evenly…i pay about 155.00 for each tire… but i was wondering if truck tires last little bit longer than car tires cause im thinking about buying a truck.
when i brake i also down shift so its an easy breaking process.

well it depends on a few things of how the driver, drives the car.
example: when they go to brake, they wait until the are a few feet away from he car in front of them, then slam on their brakes, some time leaving skid marks. this will greatly decrease the life of your tires and tire treads.
but in a nut shell i believe truck tires a made a little bit stronger then car tires just on the fact of, off-roading, towing trailers, and things like that.
a great way to know when your tire treads are low is to use a penny. not entirely sure but i think now they say to use a quarter and if it is lower then the head, you should change the tires.
hope this helps.

Try a more expensive car tire. A truck tire will last longer but will make a car handle really funny, stiff and non-responsive.
Also insist that the tires are rotated every oil change and not just front to back but what is called cross rotation. Left front goes to right rear and so forth.
What you don’t state in your question is the reason the tires are being replaced. Is it because the tread is worn, the tires are cupped or is the car wearing the “corners” off the tires. More information could help us give you a better answer.
