mount a German license plate on American car
How do I mount a German license plate on my American car?—By mmxbass
I expect to be moving to Germany within the year and something has been bugging me. How am I supposed to mount the license plate when I re-register my car? The front I’m not very worried about since my American plate is currently only held on by a plastic mounting bracket and I assume I can just order a new bracket from the dealer.
The back is what worries me… the plate is mounted into a recessed area in the bumper… the plate will never fit… how the heck am I supposed to mount this thing short of buying a new bumper?
Maybe I can get an American shaped plate in Germany? I have seen a few of those American shaped plates driving around Scotland but I don’t know if that’s just a UK think or if you can get that in all of Europe.

they make american shaped plates, their a little bit bigger than american plates but they will still fit the holes where the screws go

How special is your car that you want to take it to Germany? It better be pretty new, because the inspection is pretty stringent, as is the driver licence training and testing.

fasten it to the trunk or see about getting a US sized plate. I have seen them in Europe
