Putting on a timing belt

Putting on a timing belt, help!?—By Dj
same ? im changing the timing belt on a camry, i marked the camshaft pulley and the crankshaft pulley to the back on the engine. i did not put it on tdc.. i just took the belt off and put a new one on,and the cam and crank is in the exact same spot after tightening everything back up.. i didnt rotate one full time clockwise neither. is this going to be a problam or i can do it this way to?? please help!! thanx

This MAY work – but why take the chance?
Align the lower pulley on TDC and check the cam pulley to assure that it is exactly aligned with the reference mark – if it isn’t, align it, tighten the belt and turn the engine over clockwise 360 degrees and recheck it. If the marks are good to go, then so are you.
